BOGARD, James Kimble, age 74, of Manchester, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Medical Center of Manchester. A native of Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Albert Henery Bogard and Francis Marie Boarders Bogard. Mr. Bogard was a painter, TV Repairman and did janitorial work. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, working on his computer and playing the lottery. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Henery, William “Bill” and Charles Richard Bogard. Mr. Bogard is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Floyd Bogard of Manchester; two daughters, Patricia Cory and her husband, Tim of Manchester and Tammy Rollins and her husband, Randall of Manchester; three step-daughters, Sherry Arnold, Barbara Webb and her husband, Tommy and Jeanette Gravil, all of Kentucky; one step-son, Tony Arnold and his wife, Toni of Kentucky; two brothers, Joseph Bogard and his wife, Judy and Robert Lee Bogard, all of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren, David and Brandy Sanders, Cody Bogard, Nicole Johnson, Jennifer and Eugene Falconbury, Ashley and Jonathan Rollins, Matthew Driver, and Aaron Tyler and Natalie Cory; and six great-grandchildren, Daylin Sanders, Caleb Falconbury, Lilly Driver, Braydon and Hazel Bogard and P J “Littleman” Johnson. Visitation with the family was held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma. DAVID W. HOWSE
HOWSE, David W., age 51, of Tullahoma, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Harton Regional Medical Center of Tullahoma. A native of Coffee County, he was the son of the late Weakley A. House and the late Darvis Snow Howse. Mr. Howse loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed farming and gardening and had a “Green Thumb.” Mr. Howse enjoyed motorcycle and dirt bike riding. He also loved his dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Howse. Mr. Howse is survived by his wife, Kim Howse of Tullahoma; one brother, Richard Howse and his wife, Sharon of Lynchburg; and one sister, Debra Hereford and her friend Bobby Arrick of Tullahoma. FLOYD E. MERRITT
MERRITT, Floyd E., age 77, of Tullahoma, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma. A native of Coffee County, he was the son of the late Earnest Merritt and the late Cleo Floyd Merritt. While attending Lipscomb University in Nashville, he served as minister of Hickerson Station Church of Christ in Coffee County. He received his BA from Lipscomb University in 1961, his MA from University of Kansas in 1963, and his PHD in Speech Communication from Ohio State University in 1973. He was a beloved Professor of Speech Communication at Eastern Illinois University, Ohio State University, Alabama Christian University and University of Kansas. He received several “Teacher of the Year” awards. During his career of teaching he also served as minister to several Church of Christ churches including ones located in Kemp and Findlay, Ill. After 38 years of teaching, Mr. Merritt retired and relocated back to Tullahoma. He enjoyed coin collecting and hunting for coins with a metal detector. He also loved to watch sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Winfred, Benjamin, James, Everett and Steve Merritt and four sisters, Mildred Coldwell, Verna Riddle, Nancy Waters and Kathleen Kilgore. Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife, Betty Hix Merritt of Tullahoma; one son, Roger Alan Merritt and his wife, Linda of Tullahoma; one daughter, Melanie Neal and her husband Michael Shane of Nashville; one brother, Dewey Merritt and his wife, Mary of Greensboro, NC; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Merritt and Shirley Merritt, both of Chicago; one brother-in-law, Robert Kilgore of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma. CARR, Darla Ellis, age 51, of Tullahoma, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. A native of Coffee County, she was the daughter of the late B.D. Ellis and Barbara Ellis of Tullahoma. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She had worked at Plummer’s Studio for several years doing framing projects. She had also worked at Crimm’s and Flowers by Rare Earth doing floral arranging. She was extremely creative and talented. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking and doing crafts. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Ellis and one niece, Samantha Abbott. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Carr is survived by two daughters, Macie Mayberry and her fiancé, Jonathon Honey of Tullahoma and Monie Pruitt and her husband, Matthew of Tullahoma; two sisters, Dwyne Abbott and her husband, Robert of Chapel Hill and Dana Greenway of Nashville; three nephews, Cale Greenway of Tullahoma, Cameron Greenway and his wife, Erin of Lynchburg and Ellis Abbott of Chapel Hill; and one grandchild, Emma Katherine Pruitt. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 4 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma. BOUGHTON, Pamela Ann, age 67 of Cowan, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was born on Feb. 18, 1947, in Winchester, the daughter of the late Clyde and Lillian (Payne) Farmer. Pamela was a registered nurse. Survivors include her husband, Gary Boughton; son, John Fraker of Cowan; daughter, Jennifer Boughton of Antioch; brother, Randy Farmer of Cowan; grandchildren, Jessica LaChance, Phillip Boughton, Katelynn Stevens, Jordan Stevens, and Christy Fraker; and great-grandson, Jadrec Fraker. The family received friends during visitation held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. PARTIN, MSgt. Gerald, age 61 of Estill Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 15, 2014. He was born on Dec. 19, 1952 in Tullahoma to the late Arthur and Nadine Stubblefield Partin. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Army followed by joining the United States Army Reserve where he became Master Sergeant. Mr. Partin worked for ten years at Lowes and seven years at Carrier. In his spare time he enjoyed woodwork, fishing, reading the newspaper, farming and sitting on the front porch. Mr. Partin enjoyed the simple things in life, most of all being with his family especially teaching Alexus how to drive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Nadine Partin. Mr. Partin is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cheryl Partin of Estill Springs; daughters, Galinda Bonner (Rico Nard) of Estill Springs and Katherine Bonner – Barrientos of Estill Springs; grandchildren, Alexus, Bishop and Chloe Nard, Olivia Williams and Victoria Barrientos; adopted mother, Margaret Richardson; beloved four-legged best friend, Rosie; and a host of aunts and uncles. PATTERSON, Robert Henry, (Aug. 30, 1939 – March 14, 2014)
Mr. Robert Henry Patterson, age 74 of Shelbyville, died on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Winchester. He was a native of Bedford County; former manager of Patterson’s Building Supply. He was a member of the Bedford County Senior Citizens and the Shelbyville Arts Guild and he took care of the lighting for Hee Haw Howdy for many years. He was a professional photographer; a nature lover and a painter of nature scenes. He attended Thompson Creek Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Robert Lee “R.L.” and Margarete Florence Womble Patterson. He is survived by his sister, Betty (Ray) Via of Decherd; nephews, Roc (Stephanie) Via of Franklin, and Tony Via of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and a great niece, Autumn Via. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Shelbyville.
