Sherwood man arrested for possession of illegal drugs, weapon
Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop Tuesday about 9:10 p.m. and found illegal drugs and a weapon inside the vehicle.
According to the report filed by Deputy Sam Davidson, the vehicle stop took place on Highway 56 near the Alabama state line and contact was made with the driver, identified later as Roger Alan Dobbins, 325 Church Street, Sherwood.
Dobbins was allegedly under the influence of an unknown substance at the time of the stop, and following an investigation, the presence of marijuana and a misdemeanor amount of prescription drugs was discovered in Dobbins possession and in the car.
Deputies also discovered a felony amount of what is believed to be methamphetamine, and Dobbins was in possession of a handgun, reports said.
Sheriff’s Office personnel seized the vehicle in question, the handgun and a small amount of money.
Dobbins was placed under arrest and transported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office where he is being held on $25,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday, May 19, in Franklin County General Sessions Court.
