Hammers is one of the last of the family-owned, small department stores, is made for browsing and exploring the old wooden counters for treasures, sometime among rejects. People from all around come to Hammer’s just to see what kind of unique finds and bargains they can get.
Hammer’s was also recently voted 2012 Franklin County’s Finest Clothing Store by the readers of The Herald-Chronicle..
A.B. Hammer bought the store in 1955 and his son, Earl was the first manager. Earl is still working there alongside his sons, Joshua and Jonathan.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for us,” said Earl. “We will try to keep bringing the merchandise you want for many more years!”
People have always taken great pleasure in checking out their amazing deals and to see the ever-changing stock.
Joshua said, “You really don’t know who you’ll see here from day to day. It can be quite colorful and fun to see so many people!”
Hammers is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., 967-2886.
