Fire destroys Hawk Drive home

An early Sunday morning fire destroyed this home,  owned by Mark A. Ill Sr., at 179 Hawk Drive in Estill Springs. Fire Chief David Pendergraff said the cause of the blaze which occurred about 2:40 a.m.  is undetermined, and the incident remains under investigation. He said no one was in the residence at the time of the fire.

Dog Walk for Dog Park @ Winchester City Park

Leashed dogs and their owners are urged to support a proposed dog
park by meeting up on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at Winchester City Park Red Roof Pavilion in Winchester for “Winchester has gone to the Dogs.” A “Howl o’ ween costume parade” will be held at noon with a prize for the best dressed small dog and large dog. A benefit will be held that night at 7 p.m. at the Oasis Restaurant in Winchester with musician Steve Sisk performing. A dog barking contest by human volunteers begins at 8:30 p.m. with a $50 gift certificate for the winner.
