The Franklin County Industrial Development Board was recently presented with the “Rebuild Tennessee” award, honoring it for the evolution of the Franklin County Business Development Center.
The Franklin County Business Development Center provides a secure environment for small businesses during the first years of start-up that nurture the growth of companies by reducing overhead costs, providing training programs and fostering business relationships.
Jerry Mansfield, South Central Tennessee Development District executive director, nominated the Franklin County Industrial Development Board for the award.
“I am impressed by Franklin officials’ creative efforts to nurture and grow small businesses to provide employment opportunities in the Franklin County region,” he said.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Franklin County Industrial Board, Southern Middle Tennessee Entrepreneur Centers, NEST-TN, and University of Tennessee Research Foundation.
To date, six companies have used the Franklin County Business Development Center, resulting in creating 64 jobs.
