Getting in better shape is a New Year’s resolution for many in 2014.
For that reason, the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church invites everyone to do just that, by joining its “Run for God” program, which starts Feb. 9.
Rev. Dr. Michael Clark mentioned it’s fun and anyone can sign up because this program allows participants to slowly gain endurance, and by the end of the 12 weeks, be able to run an entire 5K.
“Do you ever see runners go by and wonder if that’s something you could do?” Clark asked. “Would you like to learn to run with a group of people who are all learning in the process? Well, we’d like to welcome you to join us at the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church for the running program, Run for God.”
The Run for God class will meet 5 p.m. on Sundays in the church’s fellowship hall.
Over the course of 12 weeks participants will learn about running, running gear, shoes and much more. Special guests such as medical professionals and advanced runners will also be on hand to speak at several classes.
At the conclusion of the program, the group will then have its own 5K (3.1 mile) run to celebrate.
Though the class is for novice runners, runners at any level are welcome. Sign up by calling 931-967-2121 or by emailing the church at firstname.lastname@example.org and leaving a message.
