The Franklin County Commission’s School Committee and the Board of Education made further headway Monday on whether to upgrade North and South middle schools or combine them into one new facility.
However, they both seemed far away from making a final decision on what would be the better route to take.
Those supporting a new consolidated school said better educational programs could be offered because the facility could be designed to accommodate concepts geared for a 21st century scholastic environment.
Those supporting upgrading the current schools said North and South remain solid structurally and could be upgraded while still retaining the small learning community environment they already harbor.
See Friday’s print edition of the Herald Chronicle for a full report on the combined meeting.
