Winchester 9-10-11, Cowan/Estill Springs 8-9-10 stay alive in respective tourneys

The 8-9-10 and 9-10-11 Little League All-Stars tournaments for District 8 continued at the Winchester Little League fields Monday as the field was narrowed and teams were eliminated.

The Winchester 8-9-10 team met the Cowan/Estill Springs 8-9-10 team in an elimination game Monday with Cowan/Estill Springs 8-9-10 winning in a 14-9 shootout to advance in the tournament.

The Winchester 9-10-11 team also played in an elimination game Monday and beat Spring Hill 8-7 to keep their district championship hopes alive. Shaimar Lyons hit two home runs in the game to help Winchester overcome a 6-0 deficit early and advance.

The Winchester 9-10-11 team will play another elimination game Tuesday against Columbia with the winner advancing to play Tullahoma in the finals. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Cowan/Estill Springs 8-9-10 team will also look to stay alive in their bracket with an elimination game Tuesday at 8 p.m. against either Columbia Blue or Spring Hill.
