Free flu shots, COVID testing and kits

The Franklin County Health Department, 266 Joyce Lane, Winchester will be closed and no COVID-19 testing will be available today and Friday. Regular COVID testing will continue at no charge with normal hours once the holidays are over. Free self-testing kits are also available from the health department on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. F.C. Library curbside service

Due to an increasing number of COVID cases in Franklin County, the Franklin County Library is offering just curbside service at this time, through Jan. 4, 2021.  The library's operation hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Item checkout, copying, faxing, scanning, and notary services will all be available through curbside service. Patrons can reserve items online in the card catalog at franklincountylibrary.org. The item checkout limit is 15 items. Four of those items can be DVDs.  Please call the library at 931-967-3706 to make an appointment for services. 

Senior Center remains closed

The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center will remain closed through Dec. 31. A reopening date has not been determined. The staff is working limited hours and can be reached at 931-967-9853.  If there is no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned.

SCSP first day hike

Begin 2021 with a free hike at South Cumberland State Park Friday at 9 a.m. Meet at the Stone Door Ranger Station, 1183 Stone Door Dr., Beersheba Springs. Register for the hike at https://tnstateparks.com/about/special-events/first-day-hikes.

TFSP first day hike

A free hike will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Tims Ford State Park. Meet at the visitor center. Participants will hike to the Lost Creek Overlook Trail and return on the Overlook Trail for a 2.5-mile loop. Register at https://reserve.tnstateparks.com/register/first-day-hike01012021.
