Free flu shots, COVID shots, testing and kits
The Franklin County Health Department, 266 Joyce Lane, Winchester, offers COVID testing at no charge. Free COVID shots will be provided for qualifying age groups Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. while supplies are available. To make sure you are eligible for the vaccine under the current phase call the Health Department first. In addition, free self-testing COVID kits are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. F.C. Library curbside service
Due to an increasing number of COVID cases in Franklin County, the Franklin County Library is offering just curbside service at this time. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Item checkout, copying, faxing, scanning, and notary services will all be available through curbside service. Reserve items online in the card catalog at franklincountylibrary.org. The item checkout limit is 15 items. Four of those items can be DVDs. Please call the library at 931-967-3706 to make an appointment for services.
Senior Center remains closed
The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center remains closed until further notice. A reopening date has not been determined. The staff is working limited hours and can be reached at 931-967-9853. If there is no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned. Anyone needing assistance from the kitchen staff regarding Meals on Wheels, ordering congregant meals or ordering Ensure, may call 931-967-7711. For assistance with transportation, call 931-967-0741.

Arts and Roses
Local artists have created their impressions of roses in various mediums for a new art show, Arts and Roses, opening today and running through March 28 at the Artisan Depot and Gift Shop, 204 Cumberland St., Cowan. Everyone is invited to the free show featuring paintings, multimedia, stained glass, jewelry, natural items and more. Many items will be for sale just in time for Valentine’s Day. The show runs today through March 28. Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.franklincoarts.org.
Everyone is invited to Downtown Winchester’s annual Chocolate Walk Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Winchester with more than 20 participating businesses. Check in at Vision Church, 112 1st Ave., SE Winchester, for your packet, including a custom tote and lanyard with chocolate pass. While touring historic downtown Winchester, participants will enjoy the romantic energy of music in the air, all while collecting more than 20 mouth-watering chocolate-themed treats from participating businesses. This event will be held rain or shine. All safety precautions will be taken into consideration.
F.C. Federated Republican Women meeting
The Franklin County Federated Republican Women’s monthly meeting will be held Feb. 18, starting with lunch at 11 a.m. at Oasis Restaurant in Winchester. The meeting will follow.
A Red Cross blood drive will be held Feb. 26 from 1-7 p.m. at Winchester Church of Christ 1230 S. College St., Winchester. Download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Those who give in February will receive a $5 Amazon gift card.
