Free flu shots, COVID shots, testing and kits

The Franklin County Health Department, 266 Joyce Lane, Winchester, offers COVID testing at no charge. Free COVID shots will be provided for qualifying age groups Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. while supplies are available. To make sure you are eligible for the vaccine under the current phase call the Health Department first. In addition, free self-testing COVID kits are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For information on obtaining a kit or to make an appointment for a flu shot or other services, call the office at 931-967-3826.

F.C. Library opens

The Franklin County Library is now open with a limited capacity of 15 patrons for one hour. Masks required. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The checkout limit is 15 items. Reserve items online at franklincountylibrary.org. Calling the library at 931-967-3706 before visiting is advised but not required. Walk-ins are welcome. Call to make an appointment.

Senior Center remains closed

The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center remains closed until further notice. A reopening date has not been determined. The staff is working limited hours and can be reached at 931-967-9853.  Leave a message and your call will be returned. Arts and Roses

Local artists have created their impressions of roses in various mediums for a new art show, Arts and Roses, at the Artisan Depot and Gift Shop, 204 Cumberland St., Cowan. Everyone is invited to the free show featuring paintings, multimedia, stained glass, jewelry, natural items and more. This show runs through March 28. Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.franklincoarts.org.

Feb. 20

Grocery/food distribution

Christ the King Anglican Church, 1231 Cumberland St., Decherd, in association with Feed America First, will distribute free groceries and food to anyone in need on a first-come, first-serve basis Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in the church parking lot. Attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles upon arrival.

Feb. 21

Kingsmen in concert

The Kingsmen, a southern gospel quartet, will appear in concert Sunday at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 218 N. Main St., Estill Springs. Admission is free and a love offering will be collected.

Feb. 26

Blood drive

A Red Cross blood drive will be held Feb. 26 from 1-7 p.m. at Winchester Church of Christ 1230 S. College St., Winchester. Download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call  1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed. A blood donor card, a driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Those who give in February will receive a $5 Amazon gift card.
