Decoration Day

Shady Grove Cemetery decoration day will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Donations may be made on Decoration Day or mailed to: Shady Grove Cemetery, P.O. Box 1, Flintville, TN 37335. Any amount given would be very helpful maintaining the cemetery.

July 15

Reopening celebration

Franklin County Senior Center, 74 Clover Dr., Winchester, will have a reopening celebration July 15 starting at 9:30 a.m. A free burger or hot dog luncheon will be served to current members. Non-members may eat for $5. Door prizes will be presented for members only. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is served each day at 11 a.m. The dining room is open. Schedule lunch with the kitchen by calling 931-967-9853. Blood-pressure checks are available every Friday at 10 a.m. There are no COVID restrictions in place.

Ice cream social

The Ladies’ Division of the Franklin County Republican Party will hold its annual ice cream social July 15 at 7 p.m. at the home of Joanne Davis, 505 Flowerlane Dr., Estill Springs. Anyone interested in Republican politics and who loves homemade ice cream is welcome to join in this ladies-only event. Ladies running for political office are urged to attend to introduce themselves.

Stuff the Bus

United Way of Franklin County will host its “Stuff the School Bus” event to collect school supplies for local children in need July 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart in Winchester. Supplies may also be dropped off in advance at Citizens Community Bank, First Vision Bank, Regions Bank, VR Williams, WCDT or WZYX. Churches and businesses are urged to get involved by hosting their own school supply drive. Call 931-962-0103 or email uwfc@att.net for more information.

Meet-the-artist reception

A meet-the-artist reception will be held for local photographer Jamie Gilliam July 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the Artisan Depot Gallery and Gift Shop, 204 Cumberland St. E., Cowan. Gilliam’s exhibition is titled, “Volunteer State Colors: A Photographic Exhibition of Tennessee Tones.”
