NA and AA meetings

Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held in Decherd and Winchester. NA meetings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. at Decherd United Methodist Church, 300 E. Flag Day

 The Cowan Commercial Club invites everyone to its second annual Flag Day celebration Monday at 6 p.m. at the old log cabin courthouse in Cowan’s Town Square. Enjoy music, guest speakers and more.

DAV meeting

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 71 meets Tuesday at 5 p.m. at its new location, VFW Post #1893, 65200 AEDC Road, Estill Springs. Winchester’s fire chief will be the guest speaker. To order a meal, call 931-967-0605 after 12 p.m.

FCDP meeting

The Franklin County Democratic Party meets June 17 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Franklin County Annex, 839 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester. The meeting will be held in the small meeting room. Masks are only required for those who have not been vaccinated. There will be much to discuss.

SCHRA meeting

The South Central Human Resource Agency Restructuring Committee meets June 17 at 11 a.m. at Puckett’s.

June 18

Juneteenth event

Everyone is invited to attend “Beyond Strength” a Townsend Juneteenth event June 18 from 5:30-10 p.m. at Townsend, 910 S. Sheperd St., Winchester. Hosts will be Jamie Moorehead, Tiffany Kennerly, Royce Massengill Jr. and Jamauka Horton. Featured paintings by various artists will be on display. Enjoy spoken word/poetry and live music featuring musicians Ashley Brooks and Zach Brooks. Cost is $15 for presale on Eventbrite or $20 at the door.  Juneteenth is held to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. All are welcome.

Poker run

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce poker run on Tims Ford Lake is June 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Collect cards from each participating marina to complete a five-card poker hand. Cost is $10 per hand with an option to purchase unlimited hands. A $500 cash payout will be awarded for the best hand. A worst-hand prize will also be awarded. Each hand purchased includes a raffle ticket to win door prizes. Register at 9:30 a.m. at any marina stop and turn in all hands by 2 p.m. at Tims Ford Bass Club. Stops include: Twin Creeks Marina, Holiday Landing Marina, Tims Ford Marina and the Tims Ford Bass Club. Food trucks will be set up at the Bass Club. Annual fish fry

The public is invited to the ninth annual fish fry June 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Decherd Masonic Lodge #567, 101 Mary Sharp Dr., Decherd. Cost is $12 per person.
