Huntland Alumni Banquet canceled
The 2020 Huntland Alumni Banquet, scheduled for May 16, has been canceled. Their yearly schedule will resume on May 15, 2021.
Father-Daughter Dance canceled
United Way of Franklin County’s 2020 Father-Daughter Dance has been canceled. For ticket refunds, send requests to firstname.lastname@example.org or UWFC, P.O. Box 157, Winchester, TN 37398. For email requests, type REFUND in the subject line and provide a full name, address, phone number and a ticket number for which a refund is requested. No Facebook or phone refund requests will be honored. You may donate the cost of the tickets to UWFC which will help people in our community. Refunds may be requested through May 31. After that date, tickets are non-refundable.
Senior Center closed
The Franklin County Senior Center remains closed. A date for reopening has not been decided but will be announced when set.
New Orleans trip canceled
The Franklin County Senior Center’s bus trip to New Orleans which was planned for June 8–12 has been canceled with no plans to reschedule at this time. Anyone who has made a down payment for the New Orleans trip will receive a full refund. Call 931-967-9853. If no answer, please leave a message. The Senior Center is currently closed.
As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread in the U.S., Blood Assurance needs the public to schedule and keep donation appointments to ensure the continued adequacy of the blood supply. Please visit a donor center and continue to give blood during this pandemic crisis. Blood Assurance will give away an Echo Dot every week to one randomly chosen donor. Elk River Health parade for residents
Elk River Health and Rehabilitation, 32 Memorial Drive, Winchester, will hold a drive-by parade for their residents on Friday at 2 p.m. The community is urged to participate. Line up for vehicles starts at 1:30 p.m. For information, call 931-450-0028.
A USDA commodity food distribution will be held for Franklin County residents May 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at 1041 Wilton Circle in Winchester. This will be a drive-up only event. Clients are to stay in their vehicles with the window rolled up. The commodity printout of identification should be presented through the window. Staff will place food in the trunks. Republican headquarters open
The Franklin County Republican Party’s headquarters opens May 15, at 704 Dinah Shore Blvd. in Winchester. Hours are Friday from 2-6 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Swiss Heritage Festival
Celebrate the 151st anniversary of the founding of the Swiss colony of Gruetli in Grundy County at the Swiss Heritage Festival July 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring music, food and vendors at the Stoker-Stampfli Farm Museum on Swiss Colony Cemetery Road in Gruetli-Laager.
Bear Trace Golf Classic

Arts and Ales
The sixth annual Arts and Ales festival will be held Sept. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at Monterey Station in Cowan. Enjoy beer, art, music, vendors, fun mob art projects and more. VIP tickets are $40 each. Regular tickets are $25 and are available at the Artisan Depot Gallery located at 204 Cumberland St. in Cowan as well as other venues in the region.
