Free flu shots, COVID testing

The Tennessee Department of Health is offering free drive-thru flu vaccines at health departments by appointment. COVID-19 testing will not be offered today, but will resume on Friday due to the TN Flu event today. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located at 266 Joyce Lane, Winchester. Next week, all 89 rural county health departments will be open Monday through Wednesday, but will not provide COVID-19 testing Thanksgiving Day through Nov. 28. The Franklin County Health Department will extend operating hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 23 and 30. Call 931-967-3826 for information.

End-of-year nominations

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is accepting end-of-year nominations for outstanding young person (one to watch), outstanding citizen of the year, large business of the year and small business of the year. Senior Center temporarily closed

The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center will remain closed through Nov. 30. A reopening date has not been determined. The staff is working limited hours and can be reached at 931-967-9853.  If there is no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned.

Preschool

The Franklin County school system has openings for preschool for the 2020-2021 school year. Call Beth or Patti at F.C. Board of Education, 931-967-0626.

NRCS assistance

The US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service is accepting applications from producers and landowners interested in implementing conservation practices to improve natural resources on their farm or forest land. Free flu shots

Everyone is welcome to a free flu shot event at Franklin County High School, 833 Bypass Road, Winchester, today, from 3:45-6:45 p.m. The event is being held by health departments of Tennessee.

F.C. Federated Republican Women

The Franklin County Federated Republican Women meet today at Oasis Steakhouse in Winchester.  Lunch begins at 11 a.m. followed by the meeting.

Disney’s ‘Moana Jr.’

Wobble Gobble 5K run & walk

Nov. 28

Christmas parade

The City of Manchester will hold their Christmas parade Nov. 28 along Highways 41 and 55. The theme will be childhood dreams of Christmas. The lineup starts at 5 p.m. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 3

Commodity food distribution

A commodity food distribution will be held for Franklin County residents only on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon at the pavilion, located at 1041 Wilton Circle, Winchester. The distribution will be drive-up only and clients are asked to stay in their vehicle with the windows rolled up. Commodity printout or identification should be presented through the window. Dec. 4

Christmas parade

The 64th annual Tullahoma Christmas parade will be held Dec. 4 starting at 7 p.m. The route will begin near the Tullahoma Chamber, 135 W. Lincoln St., Tullahoma and continue up North Jackson Street, ending at Tullahoma High School. Float entry fee is $50. Visit www.tullahoma.org for more information.

Christmas parade

The 56th annual Cowan Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. The theme will be Christmas of 2020. Call 931-967-7318 for rules and an entry form.

Dec. 12

Christmas parade

The Huntland Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 12 starting at 1 p.m. from Huntland School and proceeding up Main Street. Lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at Huntland School. Judging is at noon.
