Free flu shots

The Tennessee Department of Health is offering free drive-thru flu vaccines at health departments by appointment only. The Franklin County Health Department is located at 266 Joyce Lane, Winchester. Call 931-967-3826.

Senior Center closed

The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center will remain closed through Oct. 31.  An opening date has not been determined.  The staff is working limited hours and can be reached at 967-9853. If no answer, leave a message.

Preschool

The Franklin County school system has openings for preschool for the 2020-2021 school year. Call the F.C. Board of Education, 931-967-0626. Ask for Beth or Patti.

Blood drive

Blood Assurance donor center at 652 N. Jackson St., Tullahoma, is accepting blood donations. Call 931-461-5773 for information.

Republican Party bonfire night

The Franklin County Republican Party invites everyone to bonfire night tonight at the Peters-Davis farm behind Factory Furniture in Estill Springs. Bring a chair and enjoy an evening of music, barbecue and speeches starting at 5:30 p.m.

Isaiah 117 House groundbreaking

Everyone is invited to break ground for Isaiah 117 House, serving Coffee, Franklin and Grundy counties, on Friday at 9 a.m. The location is 1059 W. Main St., Monteagle. Park at Christ Church of Monteagle. Masks are advised.

Turkey trot

Hospice of the Highland Rim Foundation invites runners and walkers of all ages to enter a 5K turkey trot run/walk and one-mile fun run featuring a moderate, out-and-back paved trail Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Tims Ford State Park. Check in at 7:30 a.m. at the visitor center. Proceeds benefit hospice patients. Entry fee is $35 individual, $100 for teams up to five individuals. Participants will be awarded after the race. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Oct. 15

Community health fair

A community health fair will be held Oct. 15 from 4-7 p.m. in the May Justus Memorial Library parking lot, 24 Dixie Lee Ave., Monteagle. The fair offers free giveaways and resources for all in need in Franklin, Grundy and Marion counties. Please stay in your car and wait to be directed through the line to receive various items including: medication lockboxes, fresh produce, Naloxone training, diapers, resource information and more.

Wine, Whiskers and Fancy Treats

Everyone is invited to Animal Harbor’s Wine, Whiskers and Fancy Treats Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at LaBella Pearl’s, Sewanee. Enjoy wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres and music on the beautiful, outdoor patio. Woof Stock: 2 music and auction fundraiser
