Dec. 12

Food distribution

Morton Memorial United Methodist Church’s monthly curbside food distribution will be held Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at 322 West Main St. in Monteagle. Drivers should enter the food-distribution line from behind the church where they will be directed to the loading area. Please wear a mask and remain in your vehicle. If you are unable to load your own vehicle, volunteers will be there to assist. Volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves.  All are welcome. First-time recipients will be asked to complete a short form.

St. Thomas Mobile Medical Unit

The St. Thomas Mobile Medical Unit will be present at Morton Memorial United Methodist Church, 322 West Main St., Monteagle, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide regular-dose flu shots. An Ascension Saint Thomas physician will provide primary care and staff to administer shots. The St. Thomas Mobile Medical Unit is funded by the South Cumberland Community Fund. Anyone who wishes to receive healthcare will be seen, regardless of their ability to pay.

Morton Memorial UMC

Worship with Morton Memorial United Methodist Church Sunday on the lawn (weather permitting). Worship in the sanctuary has been suspended temporarily. Those joining in lawn worship should bring chairs and wear a mask. Services are also available through Morton’s web page and Facebook. Dec. 16

Zen Buddhist meditation/study

Tullahoma Sangha, a Zen Buddhist meditation and study group, meets Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma, 3536 New Manchester Hwy., Tullahoma.  The service will consist of zazen (meditation), a short lesson, and discussion.   Newcomers may call 931-588-8935 for a short orientation at 5:45 p.m. Face masks are required.

Dec. 19

Grocery/food distribution

Christ the King Anglican Church, 1231 Cumberland St., Decherd, welcomes all in need to receive free groceries and food Dec. 19 starting at 9 a.m. in the church parking lot. Organizers ask everyone to please remain in your car once you are in the parking lot. This event is held in association with Feed America First.
