Summer VBS

All children are invited to a free summer Vacation Bible School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the summer at Grace Center of Hope located at 912 S. College St., Winchester. Children will enjoy active games, drawing, Legos, puppet shows, stories, snacks and more. Grace Center of Hope is a nonprofit children’s community center that is a growing, safe place where school aged children can have fun and experience the love of Jesus Christ.  VBS is now underway and children may join in at any time but must have permission forms signed to participate.

Zen Buddhist Meditation & study

     Tullahoma Sangha, a Zen Buddhist meditation and study group, meets each Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma.  The service will consist of zazen (meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and a short lesson and discussion.   Newcomers are welcome; please call ahead for a short orientation at 5:45 p.m.  The church is located at 3536 New Manchester Hwy. in Tullahoma.  Info., 931-588-8935.

June 16

Unitarian Universalist

     Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma’s speaker Sunday at 10 a.m. will be Gayle Ibarra who will speak on the mission of Better Angels, a national citizens’ movement created to reduce national political polarization in the U.S. by bringing liberals and conservative together to understand each other.   The service will be followed by refreshments and a discussion period.  The church is located at 3536 New Manchester Hwy in Tullahoma.

June 17

Wings of Hope Widows Ministry

All widows are invited to the Wings of Hope Widows Ministry’s lunch and program Monday at noon at Winchester First Baptist Church gym, 108 S. High St., Winchester. Bring a hobby to show and tell if you wish to share. Suggested lunch donation is $3. Info., visit or call 931-703-9515.

Grocery giveaway

Christ the King Anglican Church, 1231 Cumberland St., Decherd in association with Feed America First, will distribute food and groceries to those in need in the community on a first come first serve basis June 22 beginning at 9 a.m.

June 23

Unity prayer service

The community is invited to a unity prayer service June 23 from 8-9 a.m. at the old Franklin County High School stadium on Dinah Shore Boulevard in Winchester. Pastors and community leaders especially urged to attend.

Church picnic

Everyone is invited to a church neighborhood picnic June 23 at 5 p.m. at the old Rayburn Chapel located at 205 S. Sycamore in Cowan. Enjoy hotdogs, beans, sides and drinks under the shade trees while viewing the work and repairs in progress to reopen one of Cowan's oldest churches. Brother Kenneth Berry will lead devotion. Info., 615-578-2236.

The Celebration Choir will sing during a freedom celebration June 30 at 3 Cowan First Baptist Church. Cowan First Baptist is located at 316 W. Cumberland St. in Cowan.
