Activities meeting

Everyone is invited to an informal meeting tonight at 7 p.m. for the purpose of forming groups of people who would enjoy activities such as bridge, chess, rook, cribbage, book clubs, or other similar events at Decherd Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Fourth and Broad Street. All activities and lessons are free. Enjoy physical distancing but social togetherness.

Grocery/food distribution

A grocery and food distribution will be held for all in need Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at Christ the King Anglican Church, 1231 Cumberland St., Decherd, in association with Feed America First. Items will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please do not get out of your vehicle once in the church parking lot.

Day of Pentecost

St. Agnes’ Episcopal Church, 105 E. England St., Cowan, will celebrate the Day of Pentecost Sunday with a festival service at 11 a.m. Lunch follows. All are invited and encouraged to wear something red to symbolize the “tongues as of fire” mentioned in the Book of Acts.

Day of Pentecost

New Creation Ministries, 205 S. Sycamore St., Cowan, will hold a Day of Pentecost service Sunday at 4 p.m. All are invited to attend and wear something red to celebrate the festival occasion. A pizza supper will be served after the service.

June 6-10


Winchester First Baptist Church, 108 S. High St., Winchester, invites everyone to Rainforest Explorers Vacation Bible School for ages 4 years through fifth graders. Kickoff is June 6 from 1-3 p.m. with water games, snow cones and cotton candy. Monday through Thursday hours are 5-8:30 p.m. with music, games, crafts and prizes nightly.
