LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (July 30, 2018) – Lynchburg Nursing Center recently received the 2018 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.
The center was notified of its achievement on June 28. Only 166 Silver awards were given this year nationwide.
Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.
The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Facilities begin at the Bronze level and must earn an award at each level before applying for the next. They must fill out a detailed application for each tier.
Lynchburg Nursing Center earned the Bronze level in 2015.
The center focused its application for the Silver Award on reducing re-hospitalizations, falls, staff turnover and overtime and improving customer satisfaction.
“This award is a huge accomplishment, one that has rewarded our efforts and that energizes us to continue on our quality journey,” said Cheryl Pendergrass, executive director at Lynchburg Nursing Center. “Our dedicated staff remains focused on patient-centered care.”
“Achievement of the Silver National Quality Award is a prestigious accomplishment recognized throughout the health care community, and we are very proud of the associates at Lynchburg Nursing Center for their hard work to reach this goal,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “The award is also symbolic of a highly functioning team because it takes the commitment of every associate to win it.”
“This year’s Silver award recipients are positioned well to accomplish even better outcomes as they progress in their quality journey,” said Alana Wolfe, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I commend these facilities on this outstanding achievement.”
The award will be presented formally during AHCA/NCAL’s 69th Annual Convention and Exposition, Oct. 7 – 10, in San Diego, California.
