Life Choices Pregnancy Support Centers has named Angela Alsup of Winchester as the organization’s new executive director.
Alsup is originally from Chattanooga but has lived in Winchester the past three years. She is the wife of Franklin County High School Principal Dr. Roger Alsup. The couple has four children as well as a grandson.
Mrs. Alsup has taught middle and high school in public schools as well as in private faith-based schools.
She said she has been passionate about pro-life issues for many years and has volunteered in pregnancy support centers in other counties.
“I actually went with a dear friend to have an abortion when I was 17 years old,” Mrs. Alsup said. “She was almost 6 months pregnant. That experience has stuck with me for many years and has helped formed my stance on abortion.
“I don’t want anyone to have to experience the emotional trauma that my friend endured.”
Mrs. Alsup also says she feels passionately about girls and women receiving post-abortive counseling as well.
“There is great healing and forgiveness that needs to take place in the hearts of these girls,” she said.
