I know I am not the sharpest pencil in the drawer, or the brightest bulb on the porch, and a few bricks shy of a load. However, my philosophy is simple, if you know what you are not, then you can soon figure out what you really are.

In early August, Facebook and other social media services banned content from radio/Internet shock jock Alex Jones. Surprising? No. Jones's  number was due to come up. The big players in Internet media have spent the last few years  attempting to appease the perpetually outraged (and therefo…

Change is one of the constants in life.  Effective change is change for the better.  Change for the sake of change is usually a waste of energy.  Changing for the worse is obviously destructive.  There is no growth without change.

I really love mountain goats.  I think they are incredible animals. One of my main hopes on our vacation last year to Glacier National Park was to be able to take a picture of one of these elusive creatures, with a majestic mountain in the background.

I joined some other men and women to take the youth of our community to a water slide for the evening. I went down the slide only once and felt my body would never be the same. Most of the other adults felt the same way about the slide, so while the youth continued to see who cou…

Back in 1883, Teddy Roosevelt wrote an essay on what it takes to be a true American citizen. He did not mince words. “The people who say that they have not time to attend to politics are simply saying that they are unfit to live in a free community,” he wrote. “Their place is under a despot…
