Slick roads may have been a big factor in a crash that injured 21 people early Tuesday morning around 8:40 a.m. on I-65 in Bonnieville, Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

The chain-reaction crash involved a passenger Greyhound bus, four trucks and a few cars.

A witness said a Volvo tractor trailer hit a safety patrol truck from Kentucky Transportation cabinet parked in the emergency lane on the interstate. The witness reports that the Volvo then hit a truck in front of the safety patrol vehicle which then rear-ended a Greyhound bus that was also parked in the emergency lane. The witness said he then say a second commercial rig hit the Volvo.

The 21 people injured were treated for mostly minor injuries, according to Kentucky State police. However, one child remained in the hospital this morning in stable condition. Another Greyhound bus was sent to take the remaining passengers to Nashville yesterday. The southbound lanes of I-65 were closed several hours while the wreck was investigated.
