Animal Harbor has a number of adoptable pets just waiting for their forever home.
Liesel and Ash are spotlighted in this edition.
Believed to be a Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, 13-week-old Liesel arrived at the shelter incredibly frightened and full of intestinal parasites.
Rescued by Midtown Veterinary staff after being told by a woman that she witnessed puppies being thrown out of a moving vehicle, Liesel and her litter-mates have been called Animal Harbor’s miracle pups.
Shelter manager Emily Holland said, “After just having the puppies for two weeks, they are gaining confidence, running around in their kennel and finally feel like they are safe and protected.”
Liesel is available to go into Animal Harbor’s foster-to-adopt program this week. Adopters must bring the puppy back to the shelter for follow-up vaccinations and her spay before the adoption is finalized.
Ash is a 5-year-old solid black cat with striking golden eyes. Staff describe her appearance as unmistakable, unmatched and simply regal.
“Not only is he stunning,” Holland said, “but Ash loves to be petted and loved on and is quite easily the sweetest cat in our facility.”
Ash periodically needs his independence and enjoys having his space to decompress in peace, but staff say he is truly a gem and they hope someone will soon consider him to be the apple of their eye.
He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, FEV/FeLV negative, and ready to go into a home to be a loving lap cat.
Animal Harbor is located at 56 Nor-Nan Road, off AEDC Road in Winchester. Call the shelter at 931-962-4472 for information.
