A Franklin County man died on Sunday night after being shot in the head at his home on Holders Cemetery Road, according to Franklin County Sheriff's Office reports.

According to Sgt. Chris Guess, 56-year-old Tony Dale Gilliam was shot at the scene with his wife, 55-year-old Patricia Renee Gilliam, as the primary suspect for the case.

The shooting apparently occurred during a domestic incident that had spun out of control, Guess said.

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident at about 9 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and provided emergency medical aid to the victim, Guess said.

While deputies performed CPR on the victim, Patricia Gilliam was taken to the FCSO to give a statement.

Emergency medical service personnel with American Medical Response arrived and transported Tony Gilliam to the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System hospital in Winchester where he was pronounced dead, Guess said.

According to Guess, no charges were filed against Patricia Gilliam after the initial investigation and interview.

The investigation is ongoing, and the district attorney's office will review the case following the conclusion of the investigation and the completion of an autopsy report, Guess said.
