Enjoy Tims Ford Saturday Nite Pickin’ Saturday from 5:30-9 p.m. in the recreation hall at Tims Ford State Park.
Since 1993, a local core group of musicians has gathered at the park to play and enjoy music together. Started by Ranger David Watson and local bass player Rita Best, the success is contributed to keeping it simple and acoustic. Of course, good music, coffee and snacks keep it a real porch pickin’ experience.
All levels and ages are welcome. Pass or play when the circle comes to you and be a picker or a grinner.
Saturday Nite Pickin’ is held indoors and is always free to enjoy at the park.
For a fantastic time on the lake, join Park Ranger Dalton Smith Aug. 18 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Marina inside the park.
Start paddling at 3 p.m. to get a view of the lake’s islands and other great scenes while Smith tells the history of the area before Tims Ford Lake.
Cost is $10 a person for adults and $5 for children. Park guests cost is $8 and $3.
Volunteers are needed for an island cleanup day Aug. 24 from 8-11 a.m.
Meet at Lakeview Marina inside the park at 8 a.m. to help Ranger Smith clean up Leatherwood Island.
Wear appropriate clothes and shoes. Bring water and bug spray. Participants will be picking up trash and doing invasive-species management.
