Lifeguard training classes will begin in March at the David R. Bean Winchester Swimplex, 251 Old Estill Springs Road, Winchester.

The City of Winchester Parks and Recreation Aquatics Department is offering the class, which consists of 27 hours of classroom and pool work. Classes will be held March 26-31 and April 30 through May 5.

Lifeguard training classes are designed to teach lifesaving skills, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, automated external defibrillation and oxygen administration.

The registration fee is $175, which includes a whistle, fanny pack and pocket mask. Register in-person at the Winchester Swimplex.

The fee is due in full at the time of registration.

Following registration, and prior to the start of classes, participants are encouraged to use the pool to practice for training.

The pool is available anytime at no charge to the participant during public swim times.
