A skull found on Nov. 20 in Manchester was identified as belonging to Justin Zeigler of Franklin County, who was reported missing in 2016.
DNA linked the skull to Zeigler, according to the Manchester Police Department.
Zeigler, who was 28, was last seen on Nov. 20, 2016, at the Dollar Tree in Manchester where he had worked.
The skull was found in Coffee County on Nov. 20 when police officers came across it in a wooded area behind a building at 95 Skinner Flat Road where Pappy’s Country Cookin’ restaurant used to be located.
The remains were taken to Forensic Medical Of Nashville for identification.
The Manchester Police Department, the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, medical examiners and the Tullahoma Police Department worked on the case.
According to Manchester police, the investigation will remain open and ongoing in an attempt to locate Zeigler’s remains.
