Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Winchester rang in 2020 with the year’s first local bundle of joy.

Weighing in at 8 pounds and 5.1 ounces and measuring 17.5 inches, Dillon Trey Scott Jr. was born to Lori Makenzie Lemons and Dillon Trey Scott Sr. of Manchester on Jan 1 at 12:21 p.m.

Dillon has two older siblings, Heaven and Christopher.

Dr. Ashley DeWitt of Premier Women’s Health Center delivered the baby.

Lemons said she wasn’t expecting such a turn of events to accompany the birth of her most recent family member.

“It was a big surprise,” she said, adding that Dillon Jr.’s birth was expected on Jan. 5, but instead, the landmark family event happened on New Year’s Day to garner first-baby-of-the-year accolades in the county.

She extended her thanks to all who contributed to the momentous occasion.

STRHS CEO Cliff Wilson said: “We are very excited to welcome the first baby of 2020 born in Franklin County and congratulate Lori and Dillon Sr. on the birth of Dillon Jr. I’m extremely grateful for our entire STRHS Childbirth Center team and physicians that bring new babies into our community around the clock.

“It is our privilege to provide a safe, comforting and welcoming environment for our newest and littlest community members.”

STRHS-Winchester presented the parents with a gift basket which included a digital thermometer along with various baby items from the Childbirth Center and the Volunteer Auxiliary and Gift Shop.

The basket also included gift cards and gift certificates from Premier Women’s Health, Winchester Pediatrics Dr. Nevindra Mangru and Sherry Barstad, NP, Winchester Pediatrics Dr. Jolanta Szczarkowska, Kathy Bennett Photography, Simply BeYOUtiful Salon and the Herald Chronicle.

Also donated to the basket were a gold baby ring from Diamonds For You, a baby book from Sewanee Pediatrics and a floral arrangement from Custom Designs Florist and Gift Shop.
