Franklin County Rescue Squad divers recovered the body of a teenage boy who drowned in Tims Ford Lake at about 8 p.m. Friday, according to Emergency Management Agency Director Scott Smith.
The boy was identified as 17-year-old Robert Alan Keithley from Thompson’s Station in Williamson County, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Investigator Todd Hindman.
Hindman said the drowning occurred at 288 Wildwood Circle in the Robinson Hollow Cabin Site neighborhood near Tims Ford State Park.
Smith said the boy’s father, Christopher Keithley, discovered his son was missing about 11 a.m., and the father searched the immediate area.
Smith said emergency personnel were called in about 2 p.m. to search Tims Ford Lake and used sonar detection equipment in an attempt to find the missing boy.
He said the body was discovered a short distance from a dock area about 8 p.m.
Hindman paid tribute to the Rescue Squad for going extra distance to locate the drowning victim.
“I can’t say enough good things about them for all that they do,” he said, adding that Rescue Squad members are volunteers, and they worked diligently Friday night in locating the drowning victim.
