A 24-year-old Winchester man remains in Franklin County Jail with no bond amount set in connection with a burglary/vandalism incident at the Franklin County Highway Department’s shop area at 207 South Cedar Lane.
The property is located adjacent to the Winchester Police Department.
John Ervin May is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of aggravated criminal trespassing, two counts of vandalism under $1,000, one count of theft of property under $1,000, one count of theft of property between $1,000 to $2,500, and one count of possession of methamphetamine, according to Police Department reports.
May is to appear in Franklin County General Sessions Court on Dec. 2.
Reports said that the shop was broken into twice, with reports being filed on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3.
A section of fence was cut, forced entry was made into the shop, and two chainsaws were taken, reports said, adding that an investigation into the incidents led to May’s arrest.
He was taken into custody on Oct. 11 by Police Department detectives.
