SUE HARRIS

 HARRIS, Sue E. Smith, age 66 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Winchester, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Winchester on Sept. 7, 1953, to the late Clyde Wilson and Edna Lee David Smith. Mrs. Harris owned and operated several antique stores and loved being a sales person and interacting with customers. During her free time she loved to go fishing, work in her garden or spend time at home watching Ancient Aliens and American Pickers. She was a kind and independent woman who could be a bit opinionated at times. Mrs. Harris is survived by her loving husband, George Lloyd Harris of Winchester; granddaughters, Seala Acra of Tullahoma and Kenda Laster of Winchester; sister, Debbie (Thomas) Hill of Belvidere; and nieces, Shannon (Thomas) Laudermilk and Tabitha (Barry) Whitsett. BERTHA HUTTO

 HUTTO, Bertha Christine Solomon, age 92 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Belvidere on July 28, 1927, to the late Lem and Florence Neal Solomon. A wonderful Christian woman, Bertha was a member of the Oaklawn Baptist Church. She was the “best pecan pie maker in the south” and also enjoyed doing embroidery and crochet work in her spare time. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who always enjoyed having her family around and for her saying, “they are just little boys.” In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Boncil Hutto; sisters, Grace Marshall, Myrtle Wiseman and Faye Haddon; brother, Richard Solomon; sons, Marvin Delane Hutto, Justin Hutto and Jesse Hutto; and daughter-in-law, Gayle Ramsey Hutto. She is survived by her sons, Fite Hutto of Belvidere and Joe (Brenda) Hutto of Joelton; special nephew, Wilson Britton; special cousin, Hilda Britton; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation was held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. SHIRLEY CHICK

 CHICK, Shirley K., age 62 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at Tennova Healthcare in Tullahoma. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on July 5, 1957. Before her retirement, Shirley was employed as a machine operator at Wisco Envelope Company. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, listening to Southern rock and country music and going to the beach, but most of all she loved to spend time with her granddaughter. Shirley will be remembered for her beautiful smile and ability to always make others laugh. She was preceded in death by her father, J.W. Pearson. Shirley is survived by special friend, Dwight Weddington of Winchester; daughter, Stephanie Chick of Tullahoma; mother, Velma Kay Shockley of Winchester; sister, Judy Lynn (Johnny) Trussell of Winchester; brothers, David Edwards of Decherd, Gary (Stacy) Edwards of Winchester, Joe (Patty) Pearson of Decherd and James Pearson of Winchester; granddaughter, Alexis Jade Garrett of Tullahoma; and several nieces and nephews. WILEY SISK

 SISK, Wiley Winburn, age 79 of Estill Springs passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at The Waters of Winchester. He was born on April 8, 1940, in Franklin County to the late John Wiley Sisk and Effie Branch Sisk and was retired from Samuel Strapping, formerly known as Wilton’s. Wiley was an avid Alabama football fan who also enjoyed golf, playing cards and watching old western movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ovie Sisk. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sue Sisk of Estill Springs; children, Donna (Joey) Johnson of Winchester and David (Kristen) Sisk of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Chesley (Nathan) Glassco of Winchester, Alex Johnson of Winchester and Reid Sisk of Tullahoma; and sister, Nancy Ashley of Winchester. DONALD HENLEY JR. 

HENLEY, Donald “Booger” Patrick Jr., age 41 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on Dec. 27, 1977. He was a certified welder and had recently been employed in the lawn care business. In his spare time Donald enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles and he was an avid Tennessee Volunteers football fan. He is survived by his loving parents, Donald Patrick and Brenda (Towry) Henley of Winchester; sisters, Misty (Arthur) Gipson of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Amy Henley of Winchester; special niece, Emma Brown; and a host of family and friends. Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, from 1-2:45 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. CAROLYN HARGROVE

 HARGROVE, Carolyn Virginia, age 78 of Huntland, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.  She was born on July 13, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Tom Maddox and Mary Walters Maddox.  Carolyn was a great cook who enjoyed shopping, storytelling, gospel music and the Grand Ole Opry.  She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hargrove; grandson, Tad Sullenger; and sister, Patty O’Bryant.  She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Karen) Hargrove of Winchester and Lanisa (Daniel) Crosslin of Huntland; grandchildren, Renia (Cody) Rogers of Winchester, Tia Sullenger of Nashville and Tifini (Allen) Bradford of Clarksville; great-grandchildren, Riley Rogers, Hunter Sullenger, Paisley Sullenger and Michael Rogers; siblings, Wanda (Ralph) Klaes of Nacogdoches, Texas and Harvia Luke of League City, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home chapel with Rev. HOWELL BENSON

 BENSON, Dr. Howell Otis, age 86 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Franklin County, he was born in Huntland on Feb. 8, 1933, to the late John and Audra (Maddux) Benson.  Howell served his country in the United States Army before practicing dentistry for 35 years.  He was a member of the Winchester First United Methodist Church and had attended World Outreach Church while living in Murfreesboro.  Howell was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge and Chattanooga Scottish Rite. In his retirement, Howell enjoyed RV traveling as well as golf and fishing and he was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers football and basketball fan.  His family will remember him for his loving and generous nature as well as for his love for life.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Fay Olivia Shasteen Benson and siblings, Clyde Benson, Nolan Benson, Gwen Honey and Raymond Benson.  Howell is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Winona Benson of Winchester; children, Bart (Katie) Benson of Lebanon and Leah (Larry) Smith of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Jarred (Kelly) Benson of Lebanon, Joshua Benson of Nashville, Lauren Smith of Fayetteville and Lance Smith of White House; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kinsley and Madelyn; sister, Frances Wingo of Chattanooga; step-children, Doyle (Michelle) Scott and David Scott, both of Murfreesboro; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Shannon and Sarah; and step-great-grandchildren, Ryder and Violet.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.  Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home chapel with Father Bill Midgett officiating.  Interment was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester.
