Linda Hoosier


 HOOSIER, Linda Ruth, age 71, of Sherwood, passed away at her residence on Monday, May 3, 2021, following an extended illness.  She was born on Oct. 2, 1949, in Sewanee, to the late Orvel Lee Garner and Ethel Lucille Garner and was a member of the Gonce Church of Christ.  Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, cooking, going to yard sales, car shows and camping in her younger years. She was a dedicated farmer’s wife who loved her life on the farm, and would fearlessly attempt any task that was put before her. She made everyone feel welcome in her home and would make sure that no one ever left her home hungry.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin daughters, Karen Lois and Sharon Joyce Hoosier; great-grandson, Karson Wade Kilgore; and brother, George William Garner.  Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Hoosier; children, Ricky Alan (Lisa) Hoosier of Winchester, Robin Lynette (James) Pruitt of Scottsboro and Adam Wade (Melissa) Hoosier of Sherwood; grandchildren, Christopher Hoosier, Brandi Hoosier, Michael, Anthony and Timmy Kilgore, Justin and Riley Pruitt, Case, Cy and Gracie Hoosier; great-grandchildren, Alaia, Dawson, Myla, Trenton, Kaidon and Arabella; siblings, Mary Lee Prince of Sherwood, Annie Mae Hughes of Jasper, Betty (Dan) Summers of Tucker, Georgia, Orville Garner of Sherwood and Martha (David) Johnson of Winchester; aunt, Hazel Rogers of Sewanee; and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Johnny Stevens and Bro. Jerry Crownover officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery with Danny Cunningham, Tony Summers, Jessie Wilkerson, Terry Pack, Reuben Newsome and Ronnie Hoosier serving as pallbearers.
