POWERS, Frances Holland Burt, age 98, of Estill Springs, Tennessee, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at STRHS Winchester, following an extended illness. She was born on Oct. 21, 1923, in the Capitol Hill Community of Franklin County to the late Ethel Starnes Holland and Charles Embry Holland. Ms. Powers lived a long and prosperous life. She was a homemaker until her first employment at Camp Forrest in Tullahoma. She was then manager and cook at the Estill Springs Grade School. After her employment at the school, she was then employed for 33 years at the Estill Springs Pharmacy as a clerk. She volunteered at the gift shop at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Winchester. She was a member of the Estill Springs United Methodist Church and the Woman's Society. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. She was "famous" for her banana bread! Ms. Powers was selected as Franklin County's Mother of the Year in 1957, an award that she was most proud of. Her love of God and family was the beacon of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James R. Burt and Sam Henry Powers; her grandson, Jason Stanley Phillips; infant great-grandson, Owen Moler; brothers, James Holland and Robert Holland; and sisters, Lucille Holland Bates and Marie Holland Glasner. She is survived by her children, Brenda Burt Phillips, Michael (Darlean) Burt, Marsha Burt (Donnie) Worley and Jeffrey (Margie) Burt; step-child, Jenny Sue (Butch) Austin; grandchildren, Joshua Stephen Phillips, Kyle (Katie) Burt, Clay (April) Burt, Derek (Amy) Worley, Courtney Worley, Liane (Tyler) Moler and Patrick Burt; great-grandchildren, Skylar (Jacob) Shelton, Jacksen Phillips, Jackson, Conner and Ty Worley; step-grandchildren, April (Jeremy) Acklen, Angie (Jackie) Smith and Bobby Austin; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, from noon to 2 p.m. at Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Joe Rutherford and Bro. Robert Webster, officiating. Interment followed in Franklin Memorial Gardens where she was laid to rest beside her late husband, James Burt.
