The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Coffee County Central Red Raiders 4-3 on the road Tuesday for their 12th loss of the season.

The Rebels nearly rallied from a four-run deficit in the final inning, but their comeback attempt came up one run short.

The Red Raiders capitalized on an error in the bottom of the second to score a run and put the Rebels behind early. The Red Raiders scored again in the bottom of the third to make it 2-0.

Another error by the Rebels in the bottom of the fourth would give the Red Raiders the opportunity to score twice more to put their lead at 4-0.

The Rebels got a few runners in scoring position throughout the contest, but they were consistently unable to bring any runners in to score.

The Rebels got on the board in the top of the seventh with an RBI triple that brought two runners in to score and cut the deficit in half.

Stoltzfus followed that hit with an RBI single to make it 4-3. Stoltzfus advanced to second base with one out while representing the tying run, but he would be stranded at second as the Rebels lost by one.

Sells pitched well in the loss with one earned run allowed and seven strikeouts in six innings of action.

With the loss, the Rebels moved to 14-12 on the season and 5-4 in district play.

They will next play Wednesday at home against Coffee County Central High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
