Franklin County's Kara McDaniel, wearing No. 1603, runs with the pack during the girls Blue race at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama, on Saturday. McDaniel finished 112th in her portion of the meet with a time of 22:20.

The Franklin County High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Southern Showcase on Saturday at the John Hunt Running Park in Huntsville, Alabama.

The massive event featured more than 2,000 runners from six different states with the varsity races split into the categories of Championship, Blue and Crimson. The Rebels and Rebelettes had three runners each in the Blue races with another 14 local runners in the Crimson races.

Kara McDaniel had the top overall placement for the Rebelettes as she finished 112th in the girls Blue race with a time of 22:20.

Sophie Roberts also competed in the girls Blue race and finished 241st with a mark of 24:10. Nora Daugherty rounded out the performers in the girls Blue race for FCHS as she finished 275th with a time of 24:57.

In the girls Crimson race, Catie Hanger, Catherine Money and Caitlyn Cashion finished within close proximity of each other as they took 127th, 129th and 130th, respectively with times of 25:25, 25:28 and 25:29.

The remaining runners for the Rebelettes in the girls Crimson race and their times and placements for the day were Sydney Webb, 198th, 28:56; and Addy Hannaway, 199th, 29:04.

Owen Stewart and Braden Collins finished the boys Blue race within less than a half-second of each other as they finished in 268th and 273rd, respectively, with marks of 19:00.47 and 19:00.88.

Teammate Daniel Heath wasn’t too far behind as he crossed the finish line in 19:27 to finish in 312th place.

Josiah Cruz was the first Rebel across the finish line in the boys Crimson race as he finished in 229th place with a time of 21 minutes.

Cristian Fravel was also able to crack the top 300 in the boys Crimson race as his time of 21:56 gave him a 292nd-place finish.

The remaining runners for the Rebels in the boys Crimson race and their times and placements for the day were Xander Brammer, 309th, 22:16; Brandon Woodall, 354th, 23:47; Christian Ferrall, 368th, 24:30; Jackson Wine, 377th, 25:13; Evan Orr, 399th, 29:08; Aiden Rackley, 402nd, 31:05; and Tyson Kennerly, 403rd, 31:22.

The Rebels and Rebelettes will next compete on Tuesday in a meet at the Winchester City Park. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
