The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 49-36 on the road Thursday in the semifinals of their area tournament.

The Gatorettes got off to a slow start on offense which created a deficit that would stand for the rest of the contest.

The Gatorettes hit just one shot from the field in the opening period as the Lady Raiders jumped out to an early lead.

The Gatorettes trailed 11-5 after one quarter.

The second quarter would see the Gatorettes score just four points as they went into halftime facing a double-digit deficit. Judah Hill scored three of North’s points in the second quarter.

They trailed 22-9 at the end of the first half.

The Gatorettes began to find their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, but the Lady Raiders didn’t allow the deficit to shrink.

The Gatorettes trailed 35-21 going into the final period.

The deficit would remain steady for the entirety of the fourth quarter as the Gatorettes lost by 13 points.

Hill led the Gatorettes with 11 points for the game, followed by Mallory Cunningham with 10 points and Danica Stovall with seven.

Laia Rose and Emma Owens scored three points each, and Baylor Russell scored two points.

With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 7-10 on the season.

They will next play Saturday against Warren County Middle School at Coffee County Middle School in the third-place game for their area tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
