The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 41-29 on the road Thursday for their seventh loss of the season.
A majority of the deficit was created in the first half as a slow offensive start for the Gatorettes proved costly.
The Lady Raiders held North to just three points in the opening period, which allowed them to build a decent early advantage.
The Gatorettes trailed 11-3 after one quarter.
The Gatorettes didn’t fare much better in the second quarter as they put up just two points and continued to fall further behind.
They trailed 23-5 at halftime.
The Gatorettes found their offensive rhythm in the third quarter as they began to cut into the sizable deficit.
They trailed 30-16 going into the final period.
However, the Lady Raiders held them off for the remainder of the contest as the Gatorettes took a loss by 12 points.
Mallory Cunningham led the Gatorettes with 12 points for the game, followed by Baylor Russell with seven points.
Danica Stovall, Paris Majors, Laia Rose, Emma Owens and Judah Hill scored two points each.
With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 4-7 on the season.
They will next play Monday at West Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
