The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the Harris Eaglettes 42-23 at Warren County High School Monday in the quarterfinals of the Central Tennessee Conference Tournament.

After keeping the score close for most of the game, the Eaglettes closed the contest on a 20-4 run across the final two quarters to eliminate the Gatorettes from the bracket.

The Gatorettes jumped out to an early lead before a 7-0 run by the Eaglettes caused them to fall behind.

They trailed 10-7 after one quarter.

The score remained close in the second quarter with the Gatorettes trailing by just two possessions at halftime.

They trailed 16-13 at the end of the first half.

The Eaglettes began to fully pull away in the third quarter behind a series of 3-pointers as the Gatorettes began to struggle on offense.

They trailed 30-21 going into the final period.

The Gatorettes mustered just two points in the fourth quarter as the Eaglettes ended the game on a 10-0 run to cement the 19-point loss.

Mallory Cunningham led the Gatorettes with nine points for the game, followed by Danica Stovall with seven points and Laia Rose with three.

Emma Owens and Baylor Russell scored two points each.

With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 6-9 on the season.

They will next play on Jan. 21 against Whitthorne Middle School at Coffee County Middle School in a first-round game for their sub-sectional tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
