The North Middle School Gators lost to the Warren County Pioneers 41-31 at home Monday for their fifth loss of the season.
The Gators fell into an early hole and were kept at a decent distance for the rest of the night in the home contest.
The Pioneers ended the first quarter on a 9-2 run to create some early separation.
The Gators trailed 15-7 after one quarter.
The deficit remained steady throughout the second quarter as the Gators couldn’t make up any ground on the scoreboard.
They trailed 22-13 at halftime.
The Gators opened the second half with their best offensive quarter of the day as they cut into the deficit a little bit.
They trailed 31-25 going into the final period.
The Pioneers did not allow the deficit to sink lower than six points for the entire fourth quarter as the Gators lost by 10. Willie Cobb scored all six of North’s points in the fourth quarter.
Cobb led the Gators with 10 points for the game, followed by Eric Jones with seven points and Jacob Hardison with six.
Aiden Smith scored five points and Cason Eslick scored three.
With the loss, the Gators moved to 3-5 on the season.
They will next play Thursday at home against Harris Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
