The North Middle School Gators lost to the Harris Eagles 48-14 at home Tuesday for their third loss of the season.
The Eagles put up 40 points in the first half alone as the Gators were not able to keep up before ultimately taking the loss.
The Gators forced a fumble on the opening drive of the game for a turnover, but they would be unable to move the ball far before turning it over on downs.
After a few more unsuccessful drives from both teams, the Eagles got a long touchdown pass to take a 6-0 lead with three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Eagles then got a long touchdown run on their next drive to make it a 12-0 game with one minute left in the opening period.
The Eagles scored a defensive touchdown next as an interception thrown by North was returned for a score to make it a 20-0 game with seconds left in the first quarter. The Eagles tacked on another touchdown run with six minutes left in the first half to grow the deficit to 26-0.
The Gators got on the board on the ensuing kickoff as Josiah Cruz broke free from the pack and returned the kick for a touchdown to put the score at 26-6.
However, the Eagles added two more touchdowns before the end of the half to push the lead up even further.
The Gators trailed 40-6 at halftime.
Neither offense was able to do much in the second half as the first four drives after halftime ended in turnovers on downs.
The Gators broke through for another score when quarterback Will Hyden called his own number for a rushing touchdown with six minutes remaining.
The Eagles scored their final touchdown with two minutes to play to finish off the 34-point loss for the Gators.
With the loss, the Gators moved to 1-3 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Tullahoma Middle School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
