The North Middle School Gators beat the East Middle School Panthers 42-25 at home Monday for their sixth win of the season.

The Gators outscored their opponents in every quarter as they moved their record for the season back above .500.

The Gators got some momentum at the end of the first quarter when Shaimar Lyons hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to put them slightly ahead.

They led 9-8 after one quarter.

The second quarter belonged completely to the Gators as they limited the Panthers to three points and scored the last eight points of the half.

They led 22-11 at halftime.

The Gators expanded their lead by a few points in the third quarter with another buzzer-beater by Lyons putting them in front by 16 points.

They led 31-15 entering the final period.

The Panthers were not able to cut into the deficit at all in the fourth quarter with the Gators winning by a final tally of 17 points.

Lyons led the Gators with 13 points for the game, followed by Eric Jones with 11 points and Manny Scott with 10.

Dimarco Burks scored four points, and Jake Collins and Gavin Sells scored two points each.

With the win, the Gators improved to 6-5 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at West Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
