Shaking hands

The 37th annual Herald Chronicle Softball Tournament started Friday at Winchester City Park with teams in action for the E-class and recreational divisions.

Twenty teams took to the fields at the park as they attempted to start off strong in their respective brackets.

There were no eliminations on the opening day of the tournament, but the teams who lost on the first day will be playing to stay in the tournament on Saturday.

The tournament will resume Saturday with the remaining teams for the E-class and recreational divisions making their debuts. There will also be teams in action for the D-class division and the ladies bracket.

The first games on Saturday are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
