The Huntland High School Hornets lost to the Fayetteville City High School Tigers 77-26 at home Tuesday for their 12th loss of the season.

The Tigers dominated a majority of the game as the Hornets were not able to keep up with their scoring pace.

The Hornets jumped out to an early lead, but a 13-4 run by the Tigers to close out the first quarter put them behind.

The Hornets trailed 16-10 after one quarter.

The second quarter would be much more lopsided as the Tigers went on a 16-0 run midway through the quarter to bring the lead to more than 20 points.

The Hornets trailed 39-15 at halftime.

The Tigers would add another 15 points to their lead in the third quarter with the Hornets unable to make a dent in the deficit.

They trailed 60-21 entering the final period.

The Tigers scored the last 14 points of the contest to give the Hornets a loss by a final margin of 51 points.

Colton Ray led the Hornets with six points for the game, followed by Chris Schultz with five points and Eli Stevenson, Blake MacDonald and Conner Morgan with four points each.

Will Jolley scored three points.

With the loss, the Hornets moved to 6-12 on the season and 0-2 in district play.

They will next play Friday at Cascade High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
