The boys and girls cross country teams of Huntland High School competed in the Rocket Invitational Saturday at the Delk-Henson Intermediate School in Chapel Hill.
A total of 106 runners competed in the meet with 62 on the boys side and 44 on the girls side.
The Lady Hornets had three runners finish in the top 25 of the girls race with Megan Tipps leading the way. She finished 23rd in the race with a time of 23:40.
Teammate Kami Riley was close behind her in 24th place with a mark of 23:58 for the day.
Jocy May and Logan McLennan crossed the finish line within seconds of each other as they placed 25th and 26th, respectively, with times of 24:11 and 24:14.
Anna Stevenson was the next Lady Hornet to cross the finish line as she finished 32nd with a mark of 25:10, and Harley Gulley rounded out the times for Huntland with a mark of 25:46 to place 35th.
The Hornets had four runners in action for the boys race with Pedro Garcia recording the top time of the day for Huntland as he placed 28th with a mark of 18:58.
Blake Thompson crossed the finish line with a time of 20:28 to take 40th place.
Iseal Martinez finished 51st for the day with a mark of 22:37, and Will Jolley completed the course with a time of 26:16 to finish 59th.
The Hornets and Lady Hornets will next run on Oct. 27 in their regional meet at Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
