The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Eagleville Lady Eagles 63-38 at home Tuesday for their 12th win of the season.
The Lady Hornets pulled away late in the first half and never looked back as they extended their current winning streak to five games.
The lead changed hands multiple times in the opening period with the teams on equal footing early.
The Lady Hornets led 9-8 after one quarter.
The turning point of the game would occur in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets ended the first half on a 19-0 run to turn a close game into a blowout.
They led 32-12 at halftime.
The Lady Hornets didn’t maintain their scoring pace in the third quarter, but they still did enough to maintain their lead.
They led 44-24 going into the final period.
The Lady Hornets added a few more points to their lead in the fourth quarter as they cruised from there to win by 25.
Ashtyn Danley and Mikaylie Edwards led the Lady Hornets with 14 points each for the game, followed by Anna Stevenson with 12 points.
Brooklyn Morris scored nine points, Logan McLennan scored five, Megan Tipps scored four, MaKayla Tipton scored three and Maddux Golden scored two.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 12-7 on the season and 2-0 in district play.
They will next play Friday at home against Moore County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
