The Huntland High School Lady Hornets lost to the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats 74-57 at Woodbury Grammar School Friday in a game for the Mitch Wilson State Farm Classic.
The Lady Hornets trailed for almost the entire game as their record for the year fell back to below .500.
The teams traded the lead a few times early in the first quarter, but the Lady Wildcats were able to begin pulling away late in the period.
The Lady Hornets trailed 22-14 after one quarter.
The Lady Hornets were able to bring the deficit down to as few as five points late in the second quarter. However, the Lady Wildcats would continue to keep them at bay.
They trailed 41-32 at halftime.
The lead remained just out of reach for the Lady Hornets in the third quarter as the Lady Wildcats continually maintained a multi-possession advantage.
The Lady Hornets trailed 54-43 going into the final period.
The Lady Wildcats kept the lead at double digits for the entire fourth quarter as the Lady Hornets lost by 17 points.
Anna Stevenson led the Lady Hornets with 17 points for the game, followed by Ashtyn Danley with 13 points and Mikaylie Edwards with 10.
Logan McLennan scored seven points, Brooklyn Morris scored six, and Maddux Golden and Tori Schultz scored two points each.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 2-3 on the season.
They will next play Saturday against Coffee County Central High School at Cannon County High School in a second game for the Mitch Wilson State Farm Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
