The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Giles County Lady Bobcats 82-75 on the road Thursday for their fourth win of the season.
The contest was a high-scoring, competitive matchup throughout with the Lady Hornets taking control in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to an early 9-3 advantage, but the Lady Bobcats ended the opening period on a 14-3 run to take the lead.
The Lady Hornets trailed 17-12 after one quarter.
The Lady Hornets trailed by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, but they were able to cut the deficit back down to five points before the end of the first half.
They trailed 35-30 at halftime.
The third quarter featured several significant scoring runs as the Lady Hornets went on an 8-0 run to briefly take a 44-43 lead. The Lady Bobcats responded with an 8-0 run of their own to retake control of the scoreboard.
The Lady Hornets closed out the quarter with a 7-0 run as they trailed 52-51 going into the final period.
The Lady Hornets carried their momentum into the fourth quarter as they opened the period with a 16-7 run to take the lead for good. The teams combined for 54 total points in the final quarter as Huntland ultimately came out ahead with the seven-point win.
Ashtyn Danley led the Lady Hornets with 28 points for the game, followed by Anna Stevenson with 26 points and Mikaylie Edwards with 12.
Megan Tipps and Logan McLennan scored six points each, and Brooklyn Morris scored four points.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 4-4 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at Community High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
