The Huntland High School Lady Hornets lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 52-30 at Cannon County High School Saturday in their second game for the Mitch Wilson State Farm Classic.

The Lady Raiders scored the first 25 points of the game which created a massive deficit that the Lady Hornets were not able to overcome.

The Lady Hornets were held scoreless in the first quarter as the Lady Raiders took an early 21-0 lead by the end of the period.

The Lady Hornets got their offense going in the second quarter, but they still couldn’t make up any ground on the scoreboard.

They trailed 31-7 at halftime.

The Lady Hornets improved in the second half as they were able to start cutting into the deficit a little bit.

They trailed 39-17 entering the final period.

However, the Lady Raiders would keep the deficit above 20 points for the remainder of the contest as the Lady Hornets lost by 22.

Brooklyn Morris led the Lady Hornets with nine points for the game, followed by Mikaylie Edwards with six points and Ashtyn Danley with four.

Anna Stevenson scored three points, and Maddux Golden, Camille Bland, Logan McLennan and Diamond Tate scored two points each.

With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 2-4 on the season.

They will next play Tuesday at home against Community High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
