The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Moore County Raiderettes 58-46 at home Friday for their 13th win of the season.
A dominant third quarter would be key for the Lady Hornets in the district matchup as they cruised from there to pick up their sixth straight victory.
The first quarter would be very competitive between the two teams with the Lady Hornets coming out ahead by a few points when the period ended.
They led 14-10 after one quarter.
Back-to-back 3-point plays by Anna Stevenson and Ashtyn Danley late in the second quarter would give the Lady Hornets some more breathing room before the end of the first half.
They led 29-21 at halftime.
The Lady Hornets were in complete control on both ends of the court in the third quarter as they outscored the Raiderettes 15-4 to put the deficit at its highest point of the day.
They led 44-25 going into the final period.
The Raiderettes reduced the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Hornets stayed ahead by double digits for the rest of the day as they won by 12.
Stevenson led the Lady Hornets with 21 points for the game, followed by Danley with 16 points and Brooklyn Morris with nine.
Maddux Golden and Logan McLennan scored four points each, and Camille Bland and Mikaylie Edwards scored two points each.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 13-7 on the season and 3-0 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at Fayetteville City High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
